When L’ame Immortalle’s Thomas Rainer went it alone, nobody quite knew what would happen. Five releases into his Nachtmahr career, numerous remixing projects (such as his remix of Gendel’s ‘Shortwired’) and much sought-after live shows in both the UK and Europe, Maedchen in Uniform is a clear indicator of the destructive force that Nachtmahr really is.

Maedchen... really is a melting pot of different elements of harsh-EBM. The title track alone is an attractive slice of dancefloor electronica with its fusions of eccentric, 80’s type melodies and harsh bass lines and playlist high-point, ‘La Chupcabra,’ is a pummelling jack-in-the-box that rubs shoulders with X-Fusion and Infected Mushroom.

Although crammed with breaking point with remixes, these do nothing to distract from the originals which on the whole are far superior. Nachtmahr are by far one of the finest Austrian electronica imports in the last couple of years.
