With their third release ‘Our Souls To You’ October File give us a slice of UK agro hardcore at its finest. A clear, old school influence circa early Black Flag resonates throughout and is particularly overt on the aptly titled ‘A Public Display of Anger’.

This album is overflowing with aggression and loathing, from the raw vocals and the dirty riffs to the scathing lyrical content which takes on familiar punk rock themes: the disestablishment of corporate America, the general downfall of society and the futility of war.

Culminating in a progressive, instrumental piece ‘Our Souls to You (Part 2)’ October File show they can add their own contemporary slant whilst maintaining consistent musical inference to a very influential genre. With so many derivatives around today, ‘Our Souls To You’ strips hardcore back to its origins and serves as a stark reminder of where it all started.
