If a whiskey-fuelled Viking Skull and a schizophrenic Iron Maiden were to form a supergroup and play Thin Lizzy covers, this would be the result. ‘Bangers’, the debut album from Canadian four-piece, Barn Burner; recorded in a time machine that would go back to 1971, consists of every gritty element of the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s, going two steps further (forward or back?) than the popular Wolfmother.

With the first half of the album being faster-paced than the second, ‘Bangers’ is none the less a party-going album for any genuine rock'n'roller. With crushing riffs and vocals to suit any drunken occasion, catchy songs such as ‘Fast Woman’, ‘Runnin’ Reds’, and the sure-to-be anthem, ‘Holy Smokes’, ‘Bangers’ will surely get Barn Burner high recognition quickly. However, being described as comedy metal will only get them odd looks and quick judgements. They do not appear to be a ‘funny-band’, and neither do they seem to be trying to be one, unless their music is written tongue in cheek - in which case, keep it on the low, lads.

All in all, there is no other way of describing this fun-filled album other than Southern, heavily-groove orientated, Rock and fuckin’ Roll.
