Death Valley Driver’s modern interpretation of groove metal with embellishments of metalcore proceeds to pummel the audience. While doing nothing original, their dynamic stage presence whets the appetite of the audience.
A more appropriate support for a band like Fozzy, Halcyon Way from Georgia are a breath of fresh air, fusing heavy progressive tendencies in the vein of Nevermore. The chemistry between the band is solid and they get the audience entirely behind them.
A return to the style closer to the opening band, Forever Never attain primary support as one of their members is responsible for producing the album art of Fozzy’s new album ‘Chasing the Grail’. The music is like a car crash between Pantera and Lamb of God, encapsulating the tough attitude of both bands.
Exploding on stage with the new ‘Under Blackened Skies’, the audience is overwhelmed to see WWE superstar Chris Jericho’s quintet Fozzy on stage. The bombastic energy of the band, particularly guitarist Rich Ward, ensures all eyes remain on them. Prime cuts from ‘Chasing the Grail’ are exhibited with a great deal of fanatics singing along. Selections from the older albums are played, concentrating on original tracks including ‘Feel the Burn’ and ’To Kill a Stranger’. In fact, the only covers are ‘Eat the Rich’, Stuck Mojo’s ‘Not Promised Tomorrow’ and closing number ‘Freewheel Burning’, which blazes over the enthusiasts and seals the night with a very pretty bow. Awesome.
