It is no secret that anything Will Francis concocts is destined to be misconstrued as a discombobulated extension of his previous musical (and questionably more famous) venture. Tonight however, it is clear that these comparisons serve absolutely no purpose except to condescend a talented front man who’s presence and obvious knack to write a catchy, electro hook forms the basis of the eruption that emanates from tonight’s dimly, lit Barfly stage.

Opening with  the Noir ambient number ‘Vorspeil,’ then with the dramatically tinged ‘All Due Restraint’ giving way to ‘Beautiful Loser,’ it becomes strikingly obvious that a subtle eccentricity lies in the sundry of shadowy  and almost primitive resonance that has been lost in the studio recordings.  Making sure the set-list was carefully constructed of total, crowd pleasers; ‘Deathclub’ received a dose of testosterone with ‘Cemetery,’ coming to life in the atmosphere that took root in its own depressive disposition.

With the announcement of the finale of latest single ‘I’m Only Human Sometimes,’ it isn’t contested.  Will Francis had more than amazed the Cardiff crowd in a show that announced the coming of age of a very, proficient song writer whose talents can only be really appreciated in a live atmosphere.
